Ashurst Beacon Loop

Our 4.0758 miles (6.5594 km) route today, has been saved and is available at...

Not a very long walk but as you can see, quite a few ups and downs...

It's some time since we visited Ashurst Beacon and the changes were very noticeable.
The vegetation in particular made the footpaths more shaded and, in some way, more interesting.
Each time there are clearings, it makes the views more engaging. To be fair this was more obvious on our way back when the sun was out and the skys clearer...

It always surprises me how memories of earlier walks come back when I see certain things like...

  • Stiles

  •  Footbridges

 ...and more.
West Lancashire...
...provides walks that have a wide mixture of flora and fauna...
...but we were not expecting to see Thomas the Tank Engine...
Our walk took us through woodland...
 ...along ancient footpaths...
 ...past holly hedge rows...
 and horses...

We saw a concrete attempt to copy Vaccary (Latin vaccaria from vacca, a cow) fences which are usually made with large flattish slabs...
We both felt it was our first "Autumnal Walk"...
 ...with noticeable  leaf colour change...

There were some impressive buildings, near the end of the walk, in Dalton, near the church...

The picture that I took can be viewed as a video clip at https://sharalike.com/s/hJSn
or in the embedded version below...
I hope you enjoy it as much as we did the walk.
