Lifeboat Road Formby Beach

This post includes a Vidcast
#22 - 3.21Km Lifeboat Road, Formby Beach
#liverpoolwinterwalks Meander
(26th February 2019)

Yesterday we combined a visit to "The DaisyChain" - http://www.seftoncancersupport.org.uk/ - a Sefton Cancer Support Group that's a registered charity based in Formby and serves the population of Sefton

"The DaisyChain provides support to Cancer Sufferers and their Carers, attempting to fill support gaps alongside other voluntary groups in Sefton and the Merseyside area."

Providing...

  • Friendship and a listening ear
  • Emotional and moral support
  • Experience of cancer
  • Caring and home visits
  • 24-hour telephone contact

As for our walk, we started at the junction of Kirklake Road & St Lukes Church Road.

That's unusual for us, mainly because the parking at that end of the coast, was run by Sefton Council; now it's the National Trust, so for us FREE PARKING!

"I'm sure we'll be visiting that end again."

As many will be aware, I'm having a weeks break from my Chemotherapy and, feeling better already;
"Today we set ourselves quite a big challenge."
Yes it was another enjoyable walk from Freshfield Station, where we parked our car, to the Bar Mio for lunch, a distance of 5.22Km.

Nice to see so many others enjoying such a beautiful Pine Forest with even more signs of spring during our walk.

"So we completed 5.22Km in total contributing to the 5.7Km, 9468 steps done by 14.49hrs."

Arriving at Bar Mio - http://barmio.co.uk/ - was a very welcome, I don't think I'd manage much further.

Drinks
- Chris enjoyed a Latte and
- I had Beck's Blue (Another non-alcoholic beer that's popular with other pubs)

Food options were good and good value for money.

- Chris opted for soup of the day - Mushroom Soup  and
- I had Ham, Tomato, Mozzarella Panini

The environment, as you can see, was very pleasant and the staff friendly, helpful and efficient.

After lunch we caught the train, back to Freshfield

4.06Km Newsham Park Meander
#liverpoolwinterwalks
(11th February 2019)

Not included within the "Winter Walks" but no reason why it shouldn't have been.
You can access the route at https://runtogether.co.uk/routes/getgoing-newsham-park-run-route/

As with the previous 6 winter walks, this was very enjoyable, especially as it was warmer today and the sun was shining.

At the end of the walk we stopped at the Lake View kiosk for a drink and a snack (KitKat)

3Km Otterspool #liverpoolwinterwalks Meander #17 (4th February 2019)

3Km Otterspool Meander
#liverpoolwinterwalks
 (4th February 2019)

I was very unsure that a 3Km walk was possible today as the side-effects of my Chemotherapy are lasting longer and breathlessness & tiredness the main issue.

It was cold again today but under wind and/or with the wind behind us, it was very pleasant in the sunshine.
