Sorry but I've been experimenting...

Yes I haven't posted here for a while and it isn't because we've stopped Meandering.
It's because I've been posting at https://findery.com/ACLjohn
Partly to experiment with Findery and partly because I find it easier to post from my iPad when out and about.
Back to our Meanders.
On Sunday we decided to do a walk, to look at how the relatively NEW "Broom's Cross" Road has had an impact on the footpaths we've walked quite a few times.
You can see the 7.24 mile route we took at http://gb.mapometer.com/walking/route_4276162.html
I must say, we were both impressed; the paths have been enhanced by the planting of trees, new hedges and fencing.

New pools are in place and wildfowl are starting to investigate.
The whole experience added to by the sunshine and Spring flowers.
If you live near, and/or are visiting the area, it's a walk worth doing. We ended up at Costa, in Maghull, as you can see from the collage, for a drink and a snack.
P.S. If you like jigsaws, try this...

The Racquet Club, Liverpool - our 39th walk for a Wednesday Pub Lunch

Our 2.6151 Mile (4.2086 km) route (shorter than normal) has been saved and is available at...

Today, we started from Moorfield Station, Liverpool, and left via the Old Hall Street Exit.
We headed past Melanie's work, past our final destination, The Racquet Club, and headed down to the River Mersey.
The route taken can be clearly seen on the map provided.
The "Three Graces" are always worth a visit, if you go to Liverpool, as this photograph shows...
Heading in-land (Turned left), we past the Museum of Liverpool, complete with some of the "Lamb-Bananas" - http://www.superlambanana.eu/history.html...
Then on towards the Albert Dock with views of the old Pump-house, the Maritime Museum and some old sailing vessels...
The "Love Locks"  were all along this section of the walk, plus the occasional gull...
Throughout the walk there are so many things to see, celebrating Liverpool's past and present...
The River Mersey itself is becoming increasingly busy and you're never sure what you will see...
On our walk today, it was windy, the tide was coming in and, we're pleased to say, no rain.
 The views are quite stunning...
and you're never sure what you will see! A crocodile...
 ...no just some netting.
We soon reached Brunswick Station...
...where we caught a train back to Moorfields...
The plan was to meet our elder daughter, when she finished work at 12:30. as we were a little early, we popped into Costa...
...where Chris had enough points for us to have FREE DRINKS...
We then completed our Meander, picking Melanie up on the way to our Lunch destination...
You can see how we rated our 39th Wednesday Pub Lunch at...
Another enjoyable Wednesday Walk in a beautiful City.
P.S. I went home while Chris and Melanie went Christmas Shopping.

The Blue Anchor, Aintree - our 35th Walk and Pub Lunch

Today's 4.3193 miles (6.9513 km) route to the Blue Anchor in Aintree, has been saved and can be seen at...

Starting in the car park, behind Costa, in Maghull, we headed towards the Leeds Liverpool Canal, via our usual short cut...

Once we joined the Canal at Shop Lane Swing Bridge...
we headed towards Liverpool along the tow-path...
The next swing bridge, at Hall Lane...
...is where the boatyard is, that at one time we were hoping to buy...
We continued along the canal enjoying a wide range of plants...
 ...including waterlilies...
...and the waterfowl (ducks, moorhens, coots, etc.,)...
In the distance we could see Liverpool's two Cathedrals and Liverpool F.C.'s New Stand being built...
We were also lucky to see two herons, one that flew away before I could take a photograph...
...and another, further on, after the next swing bridge...
 ...that I did capture...
One thing that Chris pointed out, was how well camouflaged the ducks were...
...and how a photograph of them would make a difficult Jigsaw.
There may be one later this week at...
Not long after passing under the M57 we crossed the River Alt...
...and we were soon at Canal Turn at Aintree Race Course...
After that it wasn't long before we reached "Melling Road" bridge...
...the road that crosses Aintree Race Course, and, as you can see from the map, this was very close to our destination, The Blue Anchor
You can find out about our experience at the Blue Anchor, via my Maghull Foodie blog...
After lunch, we caught the 159 bus, just outside the pub, to Old Roan Station...

Here we caught the Train back to Maghull...
...and a bus back to the start...
In spite of the weather, very fine rain every now and then, this was another enjoyable Wednesday Meander!
You can take a look at the slide show of the photographs I took at...

The Alt Park, Maghull, for our 27th Wednesday Pub Lunch

Our 2.9417 miles (4.7343 km) route to the Alt Park...

...has been saved. The URL for this route is

Again, I don't think I need to provide step by step directions as the path is fairly clear and the map will provide greater detail.

The walk starts in the car park behind Costa, in Maghull and the first part of the walk takes you to the Leeds Liverpool Canal, where you head towards Liverpool.
We had one of our Granddaughters with us...
...which explains why the walk was shorter than usual.
Emily enjoyed feeding the ducks (seeds not bread) and spotting Moorhens, fish etc...
 ...including water lilies...
We were also lucky to arrive at Shop Lane Swing Bridge, to see two barges pass through.
Soon tired, it was into the buggy and by 12:30, sound asleep...
As usual we saw lots of flowers...
...picked a lot of blackberries and enjoyed the walk in the sun.
Emily was still asleep when we arrived at the Alt Park and, if you are interested, you can take a look at how we rated our lunch at...
After lunch it was a short walk across the road to catch the bus back...
Albeit a short meander, it was an enjoyable one, in the welcome sunshine!
Take a  look at the video clip I've created from the photographs I took, at...
